“Never forget. Creativity is your gift from The Universe.
Your work is how you say ‘thank you’.”- Viejo

Profoundly influenced by the New Mexico landscape, native New Mexican Robert Medina Cook began his journey in the professional creative arts over forty years ago in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Known for his blend of photography, organic elements and found materials, Robert strives to convey the elegant simplicity and rustic beauty of his ancestral homeland, its animals, and its people.

“Incorporating indigenous materials-fire scarred branches, found animal hide, earth pigments, bees wax- allows me to maintain and honor the deep sense of connection I feel for the land. Each artwork is a manifestation of that connection, a form of gratitude and ceremony that quietly welcomes and encourages others to not only join in that connection, but to pause and reflect on the simple beauty and mystery that surrounds us everyday.”

Proclaimed a “Local Treasure” by the Albuquerque Art Business Association in 2012, Robert’s award winning work can be found in over 1800 private collections worldwide, as well as several public, museum and corporate collections in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and throughout New Mexico. In 2018, Robert was also the recipient of the Felipe Samaniego Award of Excellence at the world renowned Contemporary Hispanic Market held annually in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
